CLYDE EARL SMITH affectionately known as "Smitty", 82, passed away on February 23, 2024 in Washington Hospital, Pennsylvania. He was born on March 18, 1941 in Waynesburg, to the late Earl and Nelle Smith. He grew up in Mather, PA. He attended the First Baptist Church in Pittgas, PA and was still working at Kellington, checking oil wells. Clyde was a vibrant individual, always young at heart. He had a passion for golfing and was actively involved as the president of the Greene County Senior Action Council. His love for traveling took him many places, enriching his life with experiences and memories. Not to forget his infamous talents for sharing iconic and bad jokes, always bringing laughter to those around him. Clyde is preceded in death by his his parents, son Chad, brother, Johnny, and sister, Carol. He is survived by three daughters, Crystal, Clydette (Joe), and Wendy; five sons, Clyde Jr., Dwayne (Patricia), Lorenzo (Debbie), Gregg (Rita), John (China); two sisters, Joetta (Melvine) of Ranson, WV and Bernadine Edmond of Whitmire, SC, and his dear friend and companion, Juanita Jones of Washington, PA. Clyde "Poppy" as he was affectionately called by his 30 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, will truly be missed, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and the community he was a part of.
